Buttons
I really need a set of buttons but i am really rubbish at designing them.I have looked and tried to find buttons that work nicely. I did some of the blue buttons but they did not work properly as they were designed for vb2 if anyone can provide a set of blue or matching buttons for my site i would be most grateful!
Ive been looking for so long please anyone! |

So, to summerise the dilema so far......
You need blue colored buttons for your site. You like the vB2 styled ones but had some form of problems with them. You haven't seen any others that you like. OK, so here's my solution....... Make them up using the vB2 graphics developers kit found in your download section of your members area at vB.com Save them all with the vB2 file names. Unzip again, or make a copy of, the image directory for vB3 concentrating specifically on the /images/buttons/ section. Have two explorer windows open (just to clarify that - explorer NOT internet explorer). Make your windows fill half your screen each. In one open the folder /images/buttons/ for vB3 and in the other open the folder where you have just saved your images that you have made using the vB2gfxdev pack. Copy the images from the vB2 window into the vB3 window one at a time overwriting the existing ones. If a file name has differed rename it to the new vB3 filename. If you are short any images (notably reputation and probably quickreply) then rumble them up and save them with the same filenames as they have in vB3. Once you have overwrote all the images in the vB3 window with those in the vB2 window then you are done. They just need uploading. Make sure you check the image directories /statusicon/ and /misc/ to make sure there is nothing stray in there that you need to change. Jobs a gud 'un |
I tried doing exactly what you are saying, but the little nifty text was so hard to match and no matter what text i used to replace it, it looked off . It looked like the colour's didnt match the other buttons and as if i had used the wrong font  . It was so annoying!!

I just took a look at one of the VB2 buttons. It is using 12pt Verdana bold with white text. It has a black outer glow applied.
If you are using Photoshop, you should be able to easily duplicate this. I don't know what would happen with other programs, though. They probably all do things a little differently. |
Thanks bud, ill try again *sighs*

I just thought of something else. If you have Photoshop, the easiest way to do this is open up the vBulletin 2 SDK, or GTK, or whatever they call it. Copy the text to a new layer. This way it will already be set for the right size, color, rendering, etc. Then copy the text layer style to that layer (if it hasn't already come along). And then edit the text for whatever new text you want.
