DaniWeb programming support forums
Hey there guys. I'm looking for some feedback on my site, www.daniweb.com
Constructive criticism, as always, is most welcomed. I'm trying to get the programming and web development forums off the ground. If you could help me out by posting, it would be so absolutely fantastic. We have a "building a community" forum in addition to a "Site Reviews" forum where you can get feedback on your site. :) |
Portal Page - Only suggest I can make it to stick the latest threads on the side table. I think they are quite important and shouldn't be shoved down the bottom under all the other content.
Forum - Can't say much about it. You're running a successful community and the look suits the site. Although you could possibly mess around with the templates a bit more to achieve a different look, but that isn't necessary. Congratulations. :) |
Thanks so much for the feedback. However, I'm confused what you mean. On the portal page, the latest posts are the first thing you see near the top of the page. The problem is that I have been getting sooooo many Tech Support security questions lately, and I would really like to focus on my programming forums. Therefore, although they are really the latest posts, I have filtered out all of the Tech Support questions and renamed the table "Featured Threads" so as to still be accurate.
On the forum index page, I have gotten rid of the detailed info about the last post in addition to forum descriptions. My forum index was just soooooo long with this info and this way is cleaner and gives a better overview of all we have to offer. I'm just a bit worried that the latest post details are missed. In addition, we get a LOT of newbies in the windows Tech Support forums. I'm worried that the fact that my links aren't underlined confuses them. A lot of computer newbies associate links with being underlined. And when they're not, they don't realize that it is navigation they can click on to go somewhere else. I am also looking for ways to promote my web development and website promotion forums. I really want to increase my web developer community like my Tech Support community. |
Oh sorry, I mistook those for announcements. Will look closer next time. Sorry! ;)

Nono ... I appreciate your feedback. I guess you could say that they are in the same place on the portal as vbAdvanced and vbIndex usually place announcements. So they can easily be mistook. Is that a bad thing?

nice looking forums there. Very nice. Not the most amazing looking forums, but perfect for the job! Well done! *bows*

Thank you - yes, I am far from a designer or anyone with any graphics skill - but hey, I'm willing to admit that! :-D
