LAN Room Style

added a new style to my forum to match the style i'm using with Mambo for my hardware review site.

LAN Room style
(forums in columns, with some modding in there for good measure)
Case Gallery
(integrated Coppermine and used various hacks to get it all together)

just like with my original style
Aluminum
i didn't use vivid colors as i want the ads and images to stick out.

both styles use a custom thumbnailer
example

original signature templates as well
Aluminum sig example
LAN Room sig example

and of course we've still got our poker games going.

Nice, I like how you've done your forumhome forums.

Why is the whole table aligned to the left? I don't think that looks good at all.
Don't like your new reply/new thread buttons. I prefer them not to blend into the background like that.

thanks for the comments tony.
i like the page alignment... it's different, which is why i did it like that. too many sites that are set to 800 x 600 res are centered... this is different. course, not everyone will like that, and that's why i have the two styles available for the forum.
as for the buttons, again, a personal preference. less obtrusive and matches the overall theme.
:)

again, thanks for the comments.

It's good to know you're being different. But just sometimes, different isn't exactly good. ;)

Really nice there! It's great how you got it aligned and how you got the forumhome set up like that.. Very 'out of the ordinary' type of vB forum.

Buddha 05-12-2004 09:06 PM

@ tony... don't quite know how to take that. i agree that different is not always good, however it is those who take chances who create... instead of imitate.

no worries though. i don't mind that you don't like the style. everyone is entitled to their opinions and preferences. and i do appreciate the comments.

@ halo... thanks for the compliments. glad you like it. i had fun designing it... especially the forums in columns. i keep going back to tweak it here and there.

True statement. Nobody likes to see people imitating other styles. :)

Buddha 05-13-2004 10:21 AM

and sadly i've been seeing such familiarity across the board lately. far too many people are going for the same look and that's too bad. there is a lot of creativity out there and it would be nice to see people tapping into that. it's not that their designs are bad by any means... most are excellent... they are just so **** familiar. you can bounce from one to another without feeling as though you've gone anywhere.

ah well.
