I don't even know how to phrase the search. What I am looking for is the same mod used here and elsewhere that prohibts non-members from seeing "code" or answers to questions.

Would someone point me in the right direction?

to see non memebers form seeing the [code] tags would require hacking, try asking at vBulletin.org :)
