Attachment extensions needs to be updated?

With the advent of the Hack Tracking Log is it possible to change the settings to allow .htl files to be attached. I've tried this but couldn't do it.

Cheers,

G :)

i dont see why we would need HTL files needed here.

While i like the idea we mostly modify existing templates and they rarely drasticly change ;)

StarBuG 01-29-2004 11:48 AM

even if the modifications are small it makes life much easier for the coder of a forum if he had the modifications into his HTL

So why do you think it doesn´t need to be implemented here just cause YOU don´t want it or think it´s unnecessary???

Give people the choice

HTL is most likely one of the best improvements for vB hackers ever made so please support it!

Exactly, even for small template mods, why mess about with .txt files and storing them when you could have everything you need stored in your AdminCp :) Makes it easier for everyone to hack and track ;)

I was a beta tester of the HTL and honestly i dont belive we need them for template mods :P

TXT files work just fine, and honestly ive already seen a few ppl screw up HTL installers.

It really doesnt, in the long run templates dont get reverted. i know by heart how to make my forums look like they do.

Because things change over time, adding them to the HTL would be stupid. a drastic change and what if the author doesnt update it? and someone esle calls it somthing differnt?

Well I see your point but I still think people should have the choice.
Either way, I'll be using the HTL to track my template mods. I'm rehacking vB3 on my test board to get it similiar to how my live site is and once I have it the way I want, I'll just upgrade my live site, install the HTL hack and import the .htl files to quickly get the live vB3 the way I want :)

Peace,

G

i feel that they can be allowed here, but never just as vB.org as an HTL only.

StarBuG 01-30-2004 09:14 AM

If you check the rules vB.org had a BIG discussion about HTL and TXT files and they made up the rule HTL only when TXT is also released.
Therefor Kura implemented the TXT output into HTL and everything was perfect.

Now you can have your HTL or your TXT so everyone is happy!

Star i belive ive stated before i was an HTL beta tester and im aware, but that is not untill version 1.1 and its not out yet ;)

I have thought about this and will most likely add the extention for the people that use that hack, we will still require the txt as always. I can see the benifit, and that is tracking the template modifications to, that can come in handy.
