phpBB skin imiation

Has anybody thinked about to make another boards skin imitation?
I think it would be kinda interesting ...

it can be done with some extensive work to but why make vBulletin look like somthing eles?

i have converted skins from boards to vBulletin but so they look good in vb3

And I don't think you can even touch the images for phpBB as they are copyrighted to only be distributed by them.

You'd have to make your own, I guess.

if their released under the licence dealie (doesnt remember the spelling right now) then along with the software dont they fall under that catgeory?

You are too afraid.
Copyrights are not broken in this case. Because we use the default one.

phpBB images are not opensource like their software. It is released under a different licence. So it would be copyright infringment to use them like that.

As to why someone would want to make a vb3 look like something else? Well, because it's pretty **** ugly by default. And some people may really like the LOOKS of another brand of software, but like the features and performance of vBulletin.

You're fully right. vB 3 is ugly, but it's the best coded thing ever

The vB3 style still isn't finalised, and if you think it's ugly thats why there is Style Options and Templates to edit. :)

Bad Bunny 09-20-2003 04:19 PM

No one suggest or said the style was final. But that doesn't mean it's not ugly and clumsy. And really, that's what this thread is all about. Making your vb3 look "better", but in this case, the better is a clone.

In my opinion phpbb is not that great. it was at one time, but there are so many of them all looking the same that I can't stand looking at a default phpbb. So I would not concider trying to duplicate it.
