Search and Replace

Hi,

got a quick ques, I'm new to this whole skinning system and i was wondering, the search option in the template area of the admin cp, how do i specify what template set i want to search and replace strings for? Cause there's no option and I have 3 template sets, and when i do do a search and replace it takes the wrong one. I need to do it like this cause the thing i need to replace is there in lotsa template files and would take ages to replace.....anyone got any ideas?

thnx in advance

You can't without hacking.

oh hmmmm is there an existing hack that fixes this then? Or is there another way of replacing a string in all the templates without havin to manually go thru all of them? Thnx

Search at vBulletin.org for any hacks, best place to ask is there.

hmmmm, i've posted a msg there and it's been a day now and there's no response.......this seems like a very basic feature....and if there's no way around it i must say that vB lacks some of the most logical things :P.....anyone any idea how i can otherwise modify the templates without doing each replacement manually?

Thnx

You can run a query (search MySQL's docs for the REPLACE function).

ok yea i'll try that, but what baffles me is how do people make skins if the search and replace function can't be confiured for a particular skin set? I mean, do people go thru each and every template and edit them manually then?

Nobody uses the Search and Replace because it's too dangerous to mess up.

oh...ok so what is used then? How do u go about replicating a change consistenly thru all of the templates..?
