Grabbing background, user picture, etc. from profile fields
 

I know you can create new profile fields for users to fill out, but I would like to not only create links in the post bit linking to the urls that have been entered into their profile field. This in itself I can do, but getting it so that the image that links to the profile field not to show up if the field is empty is something I don't know how to do.

Would this a template mod or a hack? Let me know I can ctrl c ctrl v this to vb.org if need be.

OK, you know how to can create new entry fields in user profiles? You know where it says location, etc., well if you didn't know, you can. :)

You know the postbit, where the avatar, etc. is?

Well I want 3 small icons in peoples postbits that link to 3 different custom profile fields I have created.

BUT, I don't want the icons to show up in the postbit, UNLESS they have actually put in a url into the profile field. If they haven't entered a URL for their current background image,etc. then in their postbit, DOESN'T show the little icon, because it has no url to link to.

It's easy to do (I think) but you can't do the part with hiding the icon unless you hack.
