PoDesign - Coming Soon!

About a week ago, i purchased a domain name and webspace to go with it. Within the week they will be set up, ofcourse, and within next week i hope to have the site, atleast a minor site, up an running, along with vBulletin, ofcourse.

Anyways - PoDesign will be dedicated to creating vBulletin Styles and Graphics to be distributed to the public at no charge.

By this, i am looking for a handful (3-5) of people to help in vBulletin Style and Graphics Designing.

Though the name stands as PoDesign as of right now, I am thinking about purchasing vbsdev.com (vBulletin Style Developers), as it fits the site's meaning better...

If you wish to help out in anyway, please contact me at one of the following:

E-mail: josh@podesign.co.uk
Aim: Enix Control

Thanks.
- Josh

Update: PoDesign is now up! You can visit us at: http://www.podesign.co.uk/vb/!

Enjoy!

More style sites? Good luck in finding somebody.

But the graphics aren't too common.

CannonFodder 01-20-2003 09:53 PM

i was thinking on using PoDesign for graphics... and vbsdev for styles...

:/

Oh two different sites! Didn't see that.

But you seem pretty good at graphics to manage the graphics site by yourself. :)

Why thank you :)
I just think it will be interesting to see how it goes.

It's not that another would not help, but way too many people are starting up the same websites over and over. It has been done with vBulletin.org, vBulletinTemplates.com (i.e. here), and many other vBulletin websites.

The fact is that unless you have designs that can dominate over those already on the market (free or paid) I would not look to spend a great deal of time in to it.

Having run and gotten rid of BBAddons.com, a complete graphics website dedicated to many of the bulletin boards graphics, I know what it is like to go through the trouble of doing such things as this.

While I did not mind that users did not donate, the link was there just for the heck of it, I would not expect any real return from it unless you can offer the same quality styles that vBSkins.com is offering, for free though.

I don't mean to sound rude or make you not want to start the website, but I am just giving you the basic facts. When there are 100 other websites doing the same thing as you, it is very hard to control the market (again, free or paid).

CannonFodder 01-20-2003 10:24 PM

i dont expect any donation, nor have i, or shall i ask for one, ever. i could care less what happens, whether it strives and completes in popularity, or completely different, i care not. i have nothing else to do with my time, if you know what i mean. why not do what i like to do, whether or not people notice it. i`m not trying to "control the market" heck no, i`m a bored tennessean with alot of free time.

Most of the style sites out there are for money, but making things free just doesn't get you all the visitors you want.

Like SD Said, you'd need to compete somehow (Probably mostly for the style site) with the others that threaten to take any pride you might have with your style site. There are so many out there that it's not an easy road to the top.

Graphics is a bit different, there are alot less graphics sites out there so graphics is your best bet. You have talent with graphics and offering those for free will have to reward you someway. But be wary of competition.

Sorry if I sound rude or anything. ;)

CannonFodder 01-20-2003 10:32 PM

no, you dont sound rude. i`m glad i`m getting some feedback, atleast i know what you all think... ;)

I'm actually going to open (along with some others) a site which will sell vbSkins and vB graphics (and loads of other stuff non-vB), but the thing is, if you look at the designs of Pank, or vbskins, all they really are, are a few modified templates, with some graphics placed in, about 5 of the styles at vbskins.com are exactly the same but with different colours and graphics...what my site will aim to do is actually modify templates quite a bit too :)
