Category & Forum Stat Variables

Take a look at my simple forum here:

Note how I have a Category-Only display set-up, yet I've seen some forums using a similar display and they're still able to output the total forums listed and threads for a specific category. Does anybody know the exact template variables so that I can try to include those stats in my design?
