Linking to another post in the same forum...

Hi, first of all, i just wanted to say that i love the look and style of this forum. Great work. Do you people have to much time left?:D

I was just wondering if it was possible, to link to certain topic in the forum, without opening a new browser window. I guess that would mean that i need to delete all (target="_blank) tags, but the problem is, that all the other links will be opened in the same window(frame) And thats no good i guess...

Any sugesstions how to manage that?

Thanks!

Check out my forum if you got time left...

why dont you want to open a new browser??

Because i have nested the forum in a frameset, and i don't want to bother the users to load (they might be cached already, but it's slower anyway) all the surrounding frames with their images.

If you have a link to another post in the same forum, why open a new browser window?

Par example: when i click on 'members' or 'user cp' it won't open a window either. And i would like that to happen to internal links aswell.

The [url] tags are hardcoded to open in a new window, and I do agree that it isn't smart that links to the same domain open in a new one. To change it you'll need to use a hack, or you can create a new BB Code tag.

Ok thanks for responding!
Maybe a new BB code tag would do the trick, but getting the right url to the post is another matter. I think i need to search for hacks that can copy the specific posts id/url, for later use.

Hmm maybe i should install the 'search engine spider friendly links hack' (now, thats a mouthfull) for that.

Sorry for thinking out loud :-)

I released a mod here which lets you copy and paste a post's URL to the clipboard, if that helps.

Yes i think so! I will take a look at that.

Thanks!
