Same styles for different subjects
 

People talk about how they make a certain style and then don't release it because they want their site to look original. That's great and all. But what about when it comes to boards that have nothing in common? Such as a graphic design forum and a music forum? A horse racing forum and video game forum?

It's likely they won't get the same members anyway. The internet is a big place. So the idea is can people release styles under the restriction that it can only be used for a forum that has nothing in common with the original forum? For instance say VBT were to release it's default style saying only boards that aren't about vbulletin customizing can use it.

Is this a viable idea?

The style is not the content, so it wouldn't really matter that way.

there is no way to regulate how a style is used once released. also, styles are not the content of a forum/site and can be easyly moded to fit any site. the point of a style release IMO is to give people a starting point. tho some forums may use a style "out of the box" i think it really hurts them in the long run. Begin original will pull more users your way.

in short, no this is not a viable idea

It's nice to have a nice style, it attracts visitors but the content is what matters and a nice style won't cover for that at all.
