Licence???

Now that Saintdog is a member of the vbulletin.org team, maybe it would be possible for this place to ask for licence info, like u do on vbulletin.org, it would be a real kick in the teeth for illegal vbulletin users

    That would be a great idea seems how there are fifty million people running around with no licenses. It would be a bit hard but I'm sure if someone phonied up the doe, FireFly could do it. Don't look at me though, I need every penny to keep my server up. Lol.

As I understand it, I think vBT would have to be on Jelsoft servers for this to work.

That would be correct and I don't think that is going to happen, as much as I hate it, right now there is not much I can do besides ban them ;).

Is this really a problem? Personally, I've never had anyone hit me up for something that didn't have a licence. But, then again, maybe ignorance is bliss. :)

Enough people have been banned for others to know not to step up, although I still look for them, there is no reason for pirating and all the excuses I hear I have not pity over :). If you want something bad enough, you can buy it, if you can not afford it, you do not need it (may sound harsh, but stealing is not any way to go).

    Agreed. It's not a need but an idea. You are correct in some ways, though, I believe you can use the Database user/pass from the Jelsoft Members Database and gain information that way. It would take a good afternoon of coding though. Lol.

If I find someone pirating - oh boy - they ARE reported, changing their site doesn't help :) I also make screenshots and log files with date-time stamps.

I think I now do a weekly report on suspected warez versions of vB. I always check up on URL's etc.

It would be great if John over at vb.com would be so kind as to allowing one more site on the server ;) called vbulletintemplates.com!!! :-O!

I mean think about it, it IS a good idea ;) and that way we have that extra bit of good security.
