Mouseover Hatred

I've noticed in some of the feedbacks in the Modified Boards forum, that some people hate the mouseover template mod [link].

My question is why?

I used mouseovers for a few days, but enough people complained that I took them away.

Some people didn't like not being able to highlight the text. Other people said they were used to just clicking anywhere on the page, for example if another window was opened on top of the forums they would click the forums window to switch into it, and of course with the mouseover you can't just click anywhere anymore.

So for a while I changed the mouseover to not make the entire cell a link, to just do the color change, but I didn't like that, because if I see a color change I expect it to be a link. So now I'm back to regular cells with no mouseovers.

I can see their point there. I personally like the mouseovers. I have them on my board and noone has complained yet.. *coughs* of course there's only 6 members... heh.

To fix those issue's just remove the onClick part, then they can still highlight the text, without clicking anything, and they can still click anywhere, it will only just still highlight. I'd say, re-apply and see how they re-act when it doesn't click-thru.

I like them, I might put them back on my forum, I normally take off the link part of it though.

This is the one problem I have with it, the onClick part. Sometimes I highlight text too (I have no idea why), and it is kind of annoying when it goes to a forum, that I didn't want. Otherwise the highlighting is great.

I think the highlight is a great effect. Many users in my forum tell me they like it much!! :)
