I know this is available as a hack, but i'm trying to see how good i can get my forum without hacks ( no hack forum ) can this be done without the use of hacks?

It could be, but it would be easier to put in the hack.

You could place links to the styles on the main forum page (as long as the user has cookies enabled, this method will work). Just add links to your styles by linking to them like so:

http://www.yoursite.com/forum/index.php?s=&styleid=1

Just chaneg the 1 to the number of the style(s).

does anyone know the code for the styles

i.e mods = $forum[moderators]

is there one for styles if so i think i have created a non hacked style drop down menu :D

Just the above mentioned, there is not a small variable for styles :).
