How long does the Remember Me feature last?

Does anyone know how long the remember me feature last? and how we can extend it?

Although the cookie expiry date shows a year later (under Mozilla cookie view), it doesnt "remember" me when I visit the forum again the next day.

Then you should check your firewall/cookie settings.
The cookies are valid for 1 year.

At first, I thought it might have been a firewall/cookie settings, but it doesnt only happen to my machine; a couple of machines seem to be affected by it as well.
