Turn Off Google Ads in Private Forums
 

This mod has a very limited audience.

If you:
a) use google ad banners in your postbit (i.e. after the first post in the thread)
and
b) have private forums

this could be of use to you.

It's darn right annoying to have the google adsense bot trying to peek at threads in private forums because you have an ad in there. Also, the ads in the private forums are not relevant to the content because the bot can't SEE the content.

So, I have figured out a way to make the ad banners show only in public forums.

If you want, you can expand on the idea and do the same kind of thing for forumdisplay.php. But, I don't need that code at this time and have no plans to release it myself.

This is a trivial mod to install. It requires one file edit and as many edits to your postbit as you require to wrap your ads in the conditional.

No screenshots enclosed, because a screenshot makes no sense in this case.

Anybody have an idea for this or link if this has been already done? I tried searching and haven't found a definate answer to this.
