cost of a fantasy football hack
 

The purpose of this thread is to guesstimate how much a fantasy football hack would cost to produce. I'm not asking for someone to do it, simply trying to get a ballpark figure. Some of the features would be:

Live draft feature. Maybe, with ZT's permission, the ability to integrate vBChat or something similar to hold a live draft where users select from a pool of available players. When a user selects a player, that players is then assigned to his team and is no longer available to choose. A time limit feature would be nice as well to limit users from taking forever when trying to choose their pick.

Admin point tallying, or automatic tallying. There's a fantasy football hack at sourceforge that gets player stats from NFL.com (It's a page whose filename never changes so getting the stats every week would be easy). Then, based on player stats, the system would assign points to each player based on the configuration the admin sets in the admincp. If there is any kind of problem, a backup system would be in place for admins to manually assign points to each NFL player.

Automatic scheduling each week. The system would randomly select teams to face each other each week.

Free agent pool, and user trading. Players who aren't selected in the draft are then relegated to the free agent pool. Users can select and drop players from their team when they want to. Also, users can trade players with other teams.

I know this has been discussed before, but I have decided to get serious about it and see if anyone can create this huge hack. Any ideas on how much this project might run me?

My guess would be somewhere between 1 and 2 thousand, these simply take a lot of work. I finished a cricket one (although its all manual) and that took a month and a half of spare time. Right now I'm modding it to work with football, but it doesn't contain any of your requested functionality.

I'm not sure I understand automatic scheduling each week - the user made teams face off right? Based on which stats?

Yeah the users face off against each other each week. The admin wouldn't have to manually set up matches for every week because the hack would do it automaticaly.

I experimented with OFFL a while ago, and it is pretty nice. H/O i was looking for something that could be integrated with vBulletin.
