Gateway hack for newsgroups / Mail lists
 

Hello everyone,

After much testing, mod-ing etc with free software such as phpBB and Fudforum, it looks like vBulletin may be what I need; not least because of the WYSIWYG text editor. I currently use Mailgust which is 'ok' but doesn't (for example) have 'subject matching' for preventing non-compliant emails breaking threads.

It is this mail list > forum concept I am focusing on in this post, and I am very keen to add on the mail-list functionality shown at the url at the end of this post, even though it sounds like it requires an external mail list manager.
From what I understand, this hack allows forum>mail list and correctly threaded mail list > forum integration. eg like Mail2Forum over at phpBB. Have I got that right?

Before I even consider buying a licence, can any users please tell me whether I should be able to 'definitely' install the mail list hack? This would be quite central to my use of vBulletin.
ie, users here who have installed the mod might like to tell me how difficult it was to do, how stable it is, etc.

I have a couple of other specific questions on this, but will hold off on them for now.
