Date Format, Can I change?

This might sound like a weird question/request. Not sure if possible.

I know you can adjust the date format in the VB options, for example (m-d-y)

However that alters all the forum.

What if I want the forum display to be F jS, Y, and the postbit_legacy to be m-d-y

I found this in the postbit_legacy template ($post[postdate]) can I alter that somehow to use a different date?
