"v" in vBulletin

this is probably common knowledge already, but what does the "v" in vBulletin stand for?

Corriewf 05-19-2005 02:40 PM

voracious

Virtual ? I dont think there is a real answer.

Colin F 05-19-2005 03:19 PM

The official answer is that it doesn't stand for anything... allthough some very imaginative ideas have come up. Search on vB.com for such threads.

i would think logically that it stands for virtual...

The best answer I heard is that it is a recursive acronym, meaning it stands for vBulletin.
Much like PHP, which stands for "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor".

I thought PHP was Pre Hypertext Processor? That or
Poor Hicupping Pat.

I figured the V was supposed to be an M for Mega cool, but thanks to a typo - its left a myth.

Nothing more than a letter to make the name sound that little be "cooler", X is used frequently, but xBulletin just doesn't sound right, and other letters don't really fit well, but "v"Bulletin just has that ring to the sound, nothing too fancy, but at the same time sounds nice.
