Programmnig Books

Summer is coming up and I need to get back to actively learning program languages again since I quit after beingable to read HTML (worst mistake ever.-_-...Should have kept furthering my knowledge). I'm wanting ot invest in soem books that will teach XHTML (Books does'nt have to be super easy as I can read html..just not well anymore.) and I need a PHP boo kthat will go from complete novice to be able to learn mroe on my own; I'd prefer if the PHP books would have some OOP coverage so I will be able to learn to hack vbulletin later.

Money isn't a big thing but I'd prefer soemthing not over 30$ each/

Yeah, I also need some PHP books that cover OOP. Has anyone used the sitepoint books? And if so what did you think?

I have the beginers book from sitepoint. I dont think it covered oop at all. It was really an extension of thier online tutorials. I am not sure how much thats changed since I bought it a while ago. Overall I liked it and would deffinitely recommend it.

I have an affinity towards books by Sams Publishing. Every book I have by them is excellent, and most of the others I have suck.

On that note, oh God, never get anything by Microsoft Press. Based on my extensive experience with one book (...), they're horrible.

I've tried Larry Ulman's huide to php 4..it was oaky. I'll pick up SAMS though. ;)

Last book I read "Learn asp in 24 hours" took me over a month

I prefer O'Reilly books.
