Defining today

How do you get today in php? I tried using $todaystamp but no good.

I've got a special calendar where I need to display today's events only (untill midnight).

in calendar.php, right before

I put:

}

That works too well. Even today is not displayed!!!

it gets a little more complicated than I originally thought; I have to compare today and event date
