$$$ For HOTM Winners

Hey I was thinking it would be cool if there was a donation system set up where we could donate through PayPal. Then each month, all or a set amount of the donations could be awarded to the HOTM winner for that month.

I think in order to win HOTM, it takes a lot of hard work. Many people here don't realize how much work is put into such hacks. I think it would be cool to give something back to these people because it is really because of them that vBulletin is as good as it is.

Look at how many people install some of these mods. Some have well into the thousands. It's just an idea. Let's see what some people think about it. :)

I disagree. Winning the HOTM is as much about timing as anything else.

I think giving money would just encourage arguments among members. I'm sure it's a nice glowing feeling to win (one it doesn't look like I'm ever destined to feel ;)), and fills the winner with pride - and that should be enough IMO.

I agree with Paul, there are already disputes without adding a financial incentive into the can :)

Yep, you do get a warm fuzzy feeling after winning HotM. :) I think that is enough, personally.

Since I doubt this prize would be retroactive, Im opposed.
XD nah, that's not why. I would say nay to this because of reasons other members stated, I agree fully.

In my case of winning HotM, coupled with the fuzzy feeling came the urge to scream "thats BLOODY right, mate!" in an arch-british tone of voice :p

HOTM should get vbulletin.com updated vb download access for life.
(Only if they already have an owned license).

Agree!

or maybe HOTM should get some kind of validation by vbulletin.org team members, make it more secure, easier to use/install (if there's any), etc.
as Erwin mentioned here about "quality assurance":

Many people will love to look/try/use HOTM, so the quality assurance would be great (for both author and users)

hehe, vbulletin.com wont like this idea. How about getting "vbulletin.org updates, downloads, and supports for ... life? :D j/k

Adding the money would be an incentive for programmers, and would probably make most pull themselves together and really produce some good work in an attempt to win HOTM, however it could cause a lot of problems and such, so i feel that if you really want to give anyone money for HOTM, or just in general, donate would just be fine - plus then the author knows exactly who it came from.

However perhaps some other incentive could be conjured up, something that would be good to aim towards, and wouldn't cause any major problems/issue's?
