Deletion of duplicate posts in same forum
Hello,
I am using the ArticleBot hack and it's working great, but I have one small problem remaining before I can say it's working perfectly. It appears to be double-posting certain RSS feed items, and I'm working on figuring out how to prevent that from happening. But in the meantime, does anyone know of a way, or a simple hack, etc. that I could use to automatically delete threads with identical titles from a particular forum? I know about pruning doubleposts but that only works across forums. Thanks, Kenny |

I am having the same problem with Article Bot. I have been manually removing them. I believe the problem lies within changes of the RSS feed.
For example, SI.com adds advertsiments to their feed, once ArticleBot grabs the ad, I physically delete the post. If you browse in the rss_cache directory (phpmyadmin or other sql database tool) you will see a list of all threads, including the duplicates. which leads me to believe something (url maybe) was changed on the rss side. It hasnt become a nuicense YET, but I am still looking for a better way to manage duplicates. |
One way the threads get dupicated is if they are too long for the variable type they are stored in. Take a look at some of my recent posts on the ArticleBot thread for a fix for this.
