networked forums

This is THE single feature that would make me go ga-ga over a forum software product. The ability to share individual forums between sites (much like FIDOnet echomail, WWIVnet, etc for BBSes). I've implemented this half-heartedly with phpBB2 before...using a NNTP server backend and having multiple sites utilze various nntp gateway mods. However, what I really want is some tight integration. Tear lines on network forum messages indicating the source website would be incredibly cool. I don't have the coding skills to do this myself, but MAN would I love it. I'm certain this feature alone would drive me and several friends to switch forum software.

This proposed mod seems to always be very well received (phpBB2, vB, etc communities), however I don't know of any mod that has been developed to actually accomplish this. Anyone have something in the works or think it is a good idea?

Has there been any mods in the past couple of years that have addressed this functionality?

sure, we call this "RSS Feeds..."

you use one forum to feed to another forum, and the other way around do...

this is now default features on vBulletin... you can even do it with podcasts...

This is exactly what I'm searching for right now.

In fact it's the next hurdle (1 of many) that I need to find out if it can be done before my next site launches.

nexialys, you said that this can be done through RSS, but I have no idea... is there a mod that you know about that can handle this.

I have played with nntp and mailing list mods, but I agree with the original poster that those methods aren't tight.

Any help from anyone would be much appreciated. To be able to share posts between certain (not all) forums on 2 different websites would be great :)

fingers crossed there's an easy-ish way to do it :erm:

Can anyone help with this... even if to point me to another thread, I'm certain that this must have been attempted before?
