Universal Clean up Cron Job

THIS IS A MUST NEED FOR ALL USERS ON VB.ORG

This is a cron job to help users that have installed a few major hacks.

When a user installs a hack at times a user may wish to be deleted or is deleted by the administration. At times due to large sites the user may have orphaned files lying around from external hacks. This cron job will remove these lost files and attempt to clean up your site.

I at this time like to thank tnguy3n and Revan for starting this in the first place.

If you are a coder here on vB and released a hack previously or in the future please PM me with a method of clearing your hack for deleted users and it will be added to the Universal Clean up file.

As always please use at your own risk. I will try to gather as much data to make this file a proper installation.

Where is it?

Bryan Ex 03-25-2005 01:46 PM

I presume this would only work if PhotoPost uses the same database as vB3?

Obviously we make a cron job for this, but there are no actual instructions...so I'm not sure what/when to use it. ;)

not a bad idea :)

GenSec-> Nice would you be intrested in working with us to do this with the cron job? That way there is no hacking involved.

Let me know.
Bryan Ex -> How do you have PP set up on your system?

I have vB3 in it's own database along with any hacks I've added but use a separate database specifically for PhotoPost. Both are on the same server with the same mySQL login. Basically what I need is a way to check users in database2 (PP) against the user list in database1 (vb) so some sort of database switch would be needed in the PP line in the cron. This would certainly go a long way at cleaning up my galleries as it's full of blank users names from former members that have since left.

I dont think this will work. No it wont. Sorry for the long delay.

Any new updates or added code so users can clean their files with ease?

Thanks.
