Log into your Control Panel and ban that user's ip. if you have root access, run command
Code:

iptables -A INPUT -s IPADDRESS -j DROP
Most important, don't give access to your account to untrusted sources, and backup files + db oftenly.

1. Use strong passwords.
2. Ensure files are properly chmod'ed.
3. .htaccess the admin and mod CPs.
4. Run the absolute latest version of vB and frequently the latest versions of PHP, MySQL, CPanel, etc.
5. Do not install any hacks unless absolutely necessary and even then, ensure that they are written by a user who has a clear knowledge of vB and general security.
6. Disable HTML everywhere.

And finally, don't provoke them. Just ignore them and the little kids will go away.

1. And change them often. Especially when "threats" are being made - no matter how trivial or real they might be.

Great list of tips, Filburt. I'd karma you if we had it. ;)

I'd just like to add...

Change the directory name of your adminCp and modcp folders.

and after you change the directory, i believe you also have to change that in the settings as well. just so you can get back to your admincp folder from clicking on admin at the bottom
