Urgent Help needed

Hi,

I recently purchased a server and after ploading my VB files then I went to do the DB only to find that when I was restoring it, certain tables and data entries were in what looks like corrupt code like:

Code:

CREATE TABLE `attachment` (

`attachmentid` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment,
`userid` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
`dateline` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
`thumbnail_dateline` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
`filename` varchar(100) NOT NULL default '',
`filedata` mediumtext NOT NULL,
`visible` smallint(5) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
' counter` smallint(5) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
`filesize` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
`postid` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
`filehash` varchar(32) NOT NULL default '',
`posthash` varchar(32) NOT NULL default '',
`thumbnail` mediumtext NOT NULL,
`thumbnail_filesize` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',

PRIMARY KEY (`attachmentid`),

KEY `filesize` (`filesize`),

KEY `filehash` (`filehash`),

KEY `userid` (`userid`),

KEY `posthash` (`posthash`,`userid`),

KEY `postid` (`postid`)

) TYPE=MyISAM;

--

-- Dumping data for table `attachment`

--

INSERT INTO `attachment` (`attachmentid`, `userid`, `dateline`, `thumbnail_dateline`, `filename`, `filedata`, `visible`, `counter`, `filesize`, `postid`, `filehash`, `posthash`, `thumbnail`, `thumbnail_filesize`) VALUES (1,18,1098798432,0,'harold.jpg','????\0JFIF\0\0H\0H\0\0??\0C\0 \n

Then it goes on for ages, same stuff around the cronlog and datastore area, not even got half way through yet. This was a straight backup from VB admin area on one forum. The forums were meant to reopen at 8pm tonight and I don't know what the problem is. I just posted over on VB official site then thought of posing here

Thanks in Advance
Danny

do you have any other backups

seems like the backup you made was corrupt

I_Love_Leythers 03-07-2005 01:09 PM

The thing is thwe last few times they have been corrupt, is this a VB problem?

well how did you do the back-up via the admincp

if so try and do it via SSH or through cPanel (if you have cPanel that is)

I_Love_Leythers 03-07-2005 01:20 PM

I would but my host didn't take kindly to me getting my own server (not a very friendly one but reliable) then he suspended my account, Then he unsuspended it and the server i used to use went down. As soon as it comes back I will try a WHM transfer but I suppose I will have to sit and wait

yep do a backup that way, or use SSH. and i think it is illegal for them to suspend your account if you had paid for that month just because your getting a new host.

and fyi, never tell your host your leaving them until you have everything you need, just in case they do this to you.

Thanks very much for your time and help :D

databse dont look corrupt to me - that info above could be anything such as pics stored in the actual database.I have restored many databases with data that looks like that though Mysqlfront with Nps whatsoever.

eva01_ 03-07-2005 01:57 PM

i have never had a database look like that ever, even with pictures in the database.

Marco van Herwaarden 03-07-2005 02:11 PM

Well it is simple: check the last 10 lines of the backup file wih any editor.

If it contains a nice closed set of inserts into the "Word" table, the backup seem to be complete.
