LMS- License Management System

I'm thinking of creating a LMS - License Management System hack.
It will probably be coded as a stand alone hack (well, still integrated with vB), but with the posibility to integrate it into my Members' Area hack.

This hack would basicly allow you (the admin) to give members a kind of license.

For example, you run a site which sells vBulletin skins, and you have vBMA installed.
Someone buys a skin at your site, and you then give permition to that user to use the Members' Area.

Now, with this hack, you can than give that member a "License", which will specify:
The user's license ID, the product purchased, and optionally the duration of the license, and maybe some more stuff.

This would be a lot easyer for the both the admin and the user...

Question is, would you guys like this hack?

your question could never be answered correctly, it's just you release it and they use, if I say I like this hack or so do 10 other guys but that doesn't matter, not all of the hack-finders know this thread.

So just release it.

It's a question whether anyone would be interested, if so I will code it and release it, if not it's just wasted time to code it, so i won't...

I think it was your Members Hack. Might be wrong.

I don't quite get your post, could you maybe specify what you are trying to say?

Personally I wouldn't release anymore hacks if I were you unless you really do code them yourself.

Your vBMA hack (which has been pulled from this site) is a complete rip of my vBug Tracker in every file and line for line with only some minor changes to reflect your table change to make it appear as your own.

Alot of people here work hard to provide the community with more flexibility in how they conduct their sites as well as provide their users with more features. People like you should not belong in this community when you rip other peoples hard work and call it your own.

And to answer your PM, NO, you may not provide me credit and still release your hack!

As I told the brad.loo, I started coding this hack around september, and I used one of the hacks on this site to get me started.
Back then, it was still a private project, designed for my own personal use.
Throughout the year, though, after working on it for a couple of months, I desided to release it for the public.
I couldn't remember which hack I used for mine, so I just released it, expecting a PM from the author of the original hack.

I release it in the evening, wake up in the morning and the hack is removed.
I can understand your anger, but please be reasonable.

We'll continue this convo by PM, as I don't want my threads to go off-topic.

PS I coded the actual members' area (not the ticket system) myself, without using even the slightest bit of anyone's code.

How can I be reasonable? Everything is identical, the installer, the admin file, the functions file and your sticket.php file as well....please stop PM'ing me to release it as the answer is no and will remain that way.

As I said, the Members' Area, a.k.a. user area is completely coded by me.

As I said, we'll let it rest.

once again i missed all the drama :o

deaths i think your best bet is to rebuild your hack from scratch without DW's code. once you do that then you can start thinking about making new hacks which plug into whatever.
