Someone Who Knows Bout Comps!

My computer decided to act up today. I went to record a quick freestyle because i had a lot of thought in my head. Then when i went to record it recorded everything that was going on in my computer (beat playing, IM's being sent) as well as my voice. So if the beat was loud it made the recording loud. It's not suppose to record that as well, this is the first time it does. Anyone know why?

How are you recording the sound?

Gio~Logist 03-02-2005 10:18 AM

through cool edit pro

Am I missing something here, but if you have a mic and are playing the beat throught the speakers, then of course the mic will pick up the background noise...

Well possibly you had the loudspeakers turned on, which would warrant deans explanation,

or you selected "what you hear" or something like that to be taped in your audio settings.

may i ask why are you IM people while recording? did you try recording without being signed on to a instant messenger? maybe the instant messenger is effecting what is beining sent? even if the audio program says it shouldnt record stuff that shouldnt be on. their will be always a glitch someplace.

No lol people were messaging me. I was just testing it out because i havent recorded in a while. The problem im having is not what you think Dean, it's more like what Colin said. Colin, do you know how i can take this out?

Yes, but it's hard to explain as I'm using a german version of Windows...

Open the sound properties by clicking on the little loudspeaker in your taskbar or going through the control panel. There you have that long row of different sound outputs. You can then switch that to sound inputs by editing the options. There, make sure "what you hear" isn't the one selected.
