Users with no profile access but change email

Hi there posted this in VB2 by mistake, I am using the latest VB

I have been advised by VB to ask this here:-

I have a usergroup that is not allowed to use profiles and hence they have to ask everytime they change their email for an admin to do this.

Is there a way around this so they can't use the profiles feature but they can still change their email at anytime.

many thanks

Someone in another forum I use thought it might be possible with templates but they could not advise any further or offer to do it.

Anyone else any thoughts?

You could possibly use template conditionals which would hide the options that usergroup wouldnt be allowed to enter but I dont know that method would prevent them from just going around it somehow.

I have a Free usergroup and a paid subscription group.

I want the free group to have either a limited profile or no profile access. I know with no profile access they can't change their email. I thought one way would be having the edit email/password link in one of the main control panel options.

Someone may have alternative advice if I explain my reasons and what I need to achieve somehow:-

My profiles can be quite detailed and personal so I don't want free members to be able to enter all the details. I have my free members so they can't view or edit profiles because of these reasons.

It would be nice if Free members had limited profiles and could still view profiles but only for the Free members. Paid members to have the full profile and view all member profiles.

The template option sounds good but how would I find out more about doing it from a newbie perspective.
