Links to Article Categories?

I added four 'Article Categories' to my site and I added an Article that is linked to one of them. The Article Categories show up in the left hand column under "Article Cateogries" but they are not linked. Are they supposed to be? How does one find articles under the category headings?

Code for that was not put in v1.0.2
Present in v2.0

Currently only sub categories are linked.
