Show latest topics from forum on my homepage
 
I'm not sure how commonly this is requested, and my apologies if it's too frequent, but I've done dozens of searches with different strings and I haven't found the answer.

With IPB I used to include a file called 'topics.php' into my SHTML website, and it would list the newest topics in the forum.

But how on Earth do I include the topics into my homepage using vB? (Apologies, I'm a complete php novice!)

My homepage is not vB powered, it's on the same server as the forums but they are two seperate entities and I'd like it to stay that way for the time being.

I've looked into RSS but I've not found anything I understand, so could anybody please help me set this up? I greatly appreciate your help.
