A, E, I, O, U, and sometime Y. <----english

H is considered a vowel in other languages, I think. ( Ex. French )

But i got the H thingy now..

Hmm Y is never prefixed with "an". You'd never say "an yo-yo".

Nouns are prefixed with "an", when they begin with a vowel (A, E, I , O, U) and "a" when prefixed by a consonant (non-vowel).

AEIOU = Vowels

Sometimes you could use an infront of N e.g an N64 :O (Try saying 'A N64' it just sounds wrong)

Oh and about H...
its not a vowell, just a completely pointless letter that they never pronounce

Indeed, "an" is not used before words beginning with "y" but "y" is also indeed sometimes considered a vowel. Quite a conundrum, eh? *lol*
