How do I include posts, threads and member count elsewhere?

I made a table and the forum is on one side and then I have the other side for other tables and in one I want the post, thread and member count. Similar to webhostingtalk.com

I do something like:

Threads: $totalthreads
<BR>
Posts: $totalposts
<BR>
Members: $numbermembers

But the variables don't work. I am trying to do this in the footer template.
