Email Notifications for updated vB.org Hacks
 
Anyone have a general idea on how it was coded??

I assume it's a normal mailer, using the addresses from the people that installed.

Not sure I know what you mean.

The author of a modification can send out an update to all the members that installed the mod anytime he likes.

it's a simple textarea form and a while going thruogh all the userid's that have installed the hack, not sure if it uses an array or if their rows, but yeah it'll basically go through them using the vbmail() function which drips it out rather than the mail() function that sends em all instantly.

So basically its a conditional...like they check off a box when they edit their post so that it would email users?

No, there's a specific page. You have a button called Send Update and when you click on that, you can enter data into a textfield. This is then emailed to any users that have installed the modification.
