Forced 1st post
Hello all:)
Is there any hack or mod available, which "force" the new user when he wants to write the first post or thread, to be as a reply in a specific forum? We have a welcome thread, and we want all of our newcomers, post there first. We have installed a hack like Welcome Pm with directions, but i am searching for something more... Do u think that this can be done? If lets say, he goes to start a new thread in other forums or reply, a window could pop up and say to him that his first post must be in that thread and have a button that when the user click it, will go him reply to that thread. Its good, if u want to force your newcomers do something:) Anyway, just an idea:) |
No hack necessary, this can be done with usergroup permissions and promotions.
- Create a "Full access" usergroup based on the settings and permissions of your registered usergroup - Set your Registered usergroup so they can post nowhere, except relpy to threads in your Welcome-Forum - Create a promotion to promote users from usergroup Registered which have at least one post to the "Full Access" usergroup But I think this does not make much sense at all: If a new user wants to reply on an existing thread, he already starts to become an active part of the community. Therefore I don't think it is necessary to get on his nerves by forcing him to say "Hello" to be able to post what he wanted. |
hmm thnx for the tip anyway:)
We have a large discussion in our admin boards to have or not have something like that, and just wanted to see if this can be done:) Thanks again:) |
