does upgrading to 3.0.6 effect ...

hey,

i just wanted to know when you upgrade the forums, what happens to the templates you've modified do they all revert back to the default with the changes? or does it just change what needs to be changed ?

Xenon 01-20-2005 09:03 PM

it doesn't change modified templates at all.

you have to use the function 'find updatet templates' and apply the changes manually

Custom templates are not updated.

Xenon 01-20-2005 09:20 PM

On a related matter...how does it apply the template changes? Does it completely overwrite the master style set and master phrases?

Rephrased...if I edit a template in the master style set and upgrade vB, do I have to reapply that edit?

I think Erwin means there is no such customed template in vB Default Style so custom templates and modified templates needed to update manually, unlike custom templates and modified templates are to be overwritten which is what you said.

Why is it that after upgrading from vb 3.0.3 to vb 3.0.6 the custom templates from some hacks needed to be reinstalled? uCash and MembersChoice both had the templates vanish almost entirely. Is it because these hacks install the templates to their own header and not to the 'Custom Templates' list or was it something I did wrong?

They were installed to the master style which gets rewritten every upgrade

Correct. Not generally a good idea for a hack. Same with phrases.
