Question about settings

If I only want people to be able to chage certain things like their custom title through the store and not with a usergroup option should I change the option in their user group to no? For example, in the permssions for one of my usergroups I have "Can Use Custom Title" = Yes. Should I set this to no to make them only available through the store?
