2 Simple question concerning vBadv. CMPS
 
I am really new to vBulletin and a virtual beginner when it comes to templates so please bear with my newbie questions.

1. I am wanting to use the CMPS for my index page so as to show the navigation bar, login/logout and a search. But i also want to show some custom content on that page. Is that a fairly straight forward process?

2. Is the CMPS something that will need to have modifications done when vB is upgraded?

Again, I know these are very simple questions so thanks in advance for your time :)
