Beyond Compare question
 

Ive been using a free file compare utility (winmerge) and its been good to me but I think I need something with a little more versatility to it.

One thing I was wondering about was whether BC can do 3 way file comparisons?

For example.

Original vb 3.0.4 file, original vb 3.0.5 file, my hacked vb 3.0.4 file.

Araxis Merge can :)

I can recommend Araxis Merge. The 3.0.4 to 3.0.5 really only wasted 15 minutes of my time at the most using Araxis Merge. And most of that was downloadin and uploading the files. Only the registered version has 3-way compare I think. The trial only has 2.

What about the version number and misc other stuff at the top of the files, also the downloaded date at the bottom? Is there any way to get around it picking up these patterns? :)

You know immediately because Araxis shows you where in the file the diff are. Try the trial.

AFAIK BC cannot do a 3 way comparison, but right now i nevver needed something like that ;)

I figured if I was going to drop the cash, I may as well get the most bang for the buck =p

Sounds like this other compare program is much better than Beyond Compare. But I've never needed to do that anyway, so I'll stick with good 'ol BC.
