A News System for a Homepage?

Hi, I am new around here and was wondering if there was a hack (other forums have them) that lets you assign one forum to be the "news forum". Once you post a topic is generates it to a txt file and then you can include it where you want news to be posted on your homepage.

If you dont understand I have one setup at http://www.knightsoflight.org using ikonboard. The forum i use is called Announcements.

PS: I read a full homepage system with latest post etc.. has a news system, I dont require the whole thing tho, just the news. :)

VBulletin has the ability to send post info to an RSS format. You can then use an RSS parser to display that information anywhere outside the forums... your homepage, or even another website.
