Hacks that don't play well together

I have been running a vB board for 6 months now. I am further handicapped by only have the most basic coding skills. As such when I install a new hack that works fine (if loaded onto a factory version of vB) but won't worked on a hacked board I am... well screwed.

Invariably the author can't or in some cases won't give assistance as "their hack works and they can't be responsible for what another hack does". And in many ways this is fair enough.

However, I would like to see a resource prepared by those in the know with hacks that DO play well together.

What do others think? Would you find such a resource valuable. Or should I just shut up, learn to code properly and fix the problems as they arise?

Sounds like a fine idea. Also sounds like a lot of work, but if someone feels up to the task...

Well, it would need a central editor (someone with a lot of coding experience). Then users would simply submit their hacks to the list. This list would then be implemented on a test forum with all of the other hacks on the list so over time we could see a super hacked forum appear.

You could then sell tickets to see the beast.

I would have to say this is impossible due to the amount of hacks available.

you might have hacks a b c d e installed and you are having a problem, but someone else might have a b c d e f installed and it works fine, that could be down to the versions of the hacks installed, the version of VB or even the fact that the person that installed a b c d e made a slight mistake in installing one of the hacks.

I think there are way too many combinations
