Accessing VB data from outside VB
 

Sorry if this is incorrect in anyway, I'm new here - but I really need to know the answer to a question.

What I need, is someway to access VB data from outside VB. Specifically, on my site's main index.php page, be able to get the username, email address and usergroup of the user logged into the foruns. If the user isnt logged into the forums, to be returned the username of guest and the other fields blank.

I've had a look into the portals, but they are beyond what I need, and I wasnt really able to find code that could help.

Can anyone offer any advice or tips on how to get this data from outside the forum script itself? They are both on the same site, so that doesnt matter, I just need a way if possible to get those 3 specific bits of data, but I'm at a loss :(
