Registration restricted unless profile file matches a number on a list
 

Not sure if I am explaining this correctly.
I have an idea using vBadvanced and vBulletin that might solve some headaches for me.

Registration form would have an additional required membership number field (viewable only to mods and admins).
In order for the registration to go through this membership number would have to match a flat file or something in the database. The idea is to restrict membership to club members.

If the person does not have a membership number, they get a notice to contact the webmaster or membership director.

Once that person is no longer a member, their permissions change so the are restricted from certain forums. So there would need to be a cron job that checked membership numbers.

Plus a default for non members to have permissions as a registered member with a membership number.
