a popular online game forum.

You have an obscenely huge number of forums, but then again, you have 41,000 users as of this post. I would suggest categorizing the forums into more of a hierarchy than what they are now (fairly flat) as all the categories just blend together.

Also the pixel font sucks wherever it is used on any site, including the buttons in your navbar. It's unreadable.

filburt, you must be using an insanely large resolution to not be able to read what most the navbars say. It's not that bad, since many sites use pixelfont much, much smaller than what this user is using on their forum. The only unreable one to me is Memberlist, it looks like Nemberlist, and maybe arcade.

And yeah, a lot of forums there, even though your site is popular, a forum doesn't need to have that many forums on their main page. Use subforums etc. to make it look neater.

1600 x 1200 on a 17" CRT.

Yeah, that is quite large for a 17' monitor. That's why. I use 1280 X 960 on my 17' CRT and it isn't a terribly small resolutions at all.

This forum isnt for advertising, but it is for people to come and get comments on their forum, this user did the same thing everyone else who posted a thread in this forum did. He didnt advertise, yet he wanted to get some comments.
