spam?
i am sure all of us get spam thru email everyday, and from wat i searched so far, many are facing probs on the forums with registered users as well.
i dun have that problem with my registered users. however, it is the unregistered that i have a problem with. becoz i run an online fiction site, i let unregistered users post comments on the stories/poems. but lately, i been getting forum spam, advertising stuff like viagra, cialis, levitra etc. anyone has any idea how to prevent that? one more thing i wish to find out.... is it possible that a machine is responsible for this? the way i see it, it would take huge effort from someone to do it constantly... and i get abt 7-10 such replies per week (thank god) |
Don't allow unregged users to post at all: this will stop spam.
It's the only real way, that doesn't require hourly manual maintenance |
omg hey, if this is relating to actual thread/replies check out my new hack:D it completely fixes this by forcing image verification on guests/unreigstered when they are making a post:)
actually it is a bot i think i got the same, this bot constantly advertises levitra in my forum feedback section>_> |
oooo boy i could use levitra
(whats it for anyhow)? |
levitra is for erectial disfunction which i think a website cant have, especially an animation one...
