Where can I find a good (noobie friendly) MySQL tutorial?

I need to know how to backup a MySQL database and restore it on a new server. Can somebody point me in the direction of where I can find a good tutorial that is designed with a noob in mind?

Is it possible to backup MySQL databases using the control panel Ensim and/or possible to restore using the control panel Cpanel on the new server?

Also, will I run into problems backing up a modified/hacked 2.0.x VB database to a 3.0.3 database?

Does anybody know if it might be in my best interest to pay somebody to move the databases to decrease my sites downtime?
