How to put smilies in thread titles?

I searched the board but couldnt find anything related to this. I was wondering how you could put a smilie in the thread title, like this: Happy Birthday Mike :birthday: (:birthday: is a shortcut for my birthday smilie) Is there any way of doing this?

I believe there was a hack for this in vBull 2.x, but the big flaw was it also allowed url tag, which could then be used to redirect to other url's, also allowed the use of other BBcodes.
